Code of Conduct

Club Rules

A shared code that keeps our runs welcoming, orderly and safe for everyone.

I. Basic Principles

  1. Respect every participant. No discrimination or mockery based on speed, age, gender, profession, background, gear or physical condition.
  2. Promote “fast and slow together”: faster runners wait, slower runners need not chase.
  3. Safety first — run within your limits; no bravado, no risks.
  4. Be punctual, follow the rules and be courteous — keep every run orderly.
  5. Care for the community environment; cause no disturbance or damage.

II. Eligibility & Registration

  1. Participants aged 18+ may register themselves. Those under 18 need parent/guardian consent and must be accompanied by an adult member.
  2. Those with chronic illnesses, recovering injuries, pregnancy or feeling unwell should consult a doctor first and honestly inform the pacer or core members.
  3. Provide accurate details when registering, including name, contact info, emergency contact and health notes (if any).

III. Attendance & Check-in

  1. Arrive 10–15 minutes before the start for warm-up and the run briefing.
  2. Check in on arrival and confirm your group and route.
  3. If you will be late or leave early, notify the pacer or a core member in advance.

IV. Health & Safety

  1. Assess your own condition. Do not force yourself to join if you feel unwell.
  2. If you feel dizzy, chest pain, shortness of breath, cramps or extreme fatigue, stop immediately and tell the pacer, sweeper or a fellow runner.
  3. Follow the pacer and sweeper. Do not leave the group, change the route or overtake the lead on your own.
  4. Obey traffic rules when crossing roads — no jaywalking or beating red lights.
  5. Wear reflective or light-coloured clothing for night runs; watch the road and vehicles.
  6. The club does its best to provide basic safety support, but participants remain responsible for their own safety.

V. Running Etiquette & Route Rules

  1. Keep to the side on footpaths; do not run abreast and block pedestrians.
  2. No spitting, littering or damaging public property.
  3. Keep noise down; no loudspeaker music that disturbs residents.
  4. Keep a safe distance from other runners, pedestrians and cyclists.
  5. Signal before overtaking other runners to avoid collisions.
  6. Be courteous to all other road users — no fighting for space or provoking others.
  7. During runs and conditioning, members must exercise self-discipline and mutual respect, keeping appropriate physical distance at all times (no unnecessary body contact or intimate contact).

VI. Pace Groups, Pacers & Sweepers

  1. Choose a group matching your ability; do not force yourself to follow a faster group.
  2. Each group has a pacer and a sweeper — stay between them for the whole route.
  3. If exhausted, tell the pacer or sweeper; someone will accompany you or arrange a turn-back.
  4. Do not leave the group on your own or take shortcuts.
  5. Pacer and sweeper instructions prioritise safety and the group’s interests — please cooperate.

VII. Attire & Equipment

  1. Wear proper sportswear and running shoes.
  2. Slippers, sandals and jeans are not suitable for running.
  3. Bring your own water, towel and personal items.
  4. In bad weather, bring windproof, waterproof or warm gear.
  5. Do not bring dangerous or prohibited items to activities.

VIII. Social Groups & Communication

  1. The chat groups are mainly for activity notices, route info and safety tips.
  2. No advertising, sales, MLM, religious promotion, political mobilisation or unverified information in the groups.
  3. No personal attacks, insults, provocation or rumours.
  4. Respect others’ privacy — do not share anyone’s personal data or photos without consent.
  5. For disputes, communicate rationally first; escalate to core members if needed.

IX. Belongings, Insurance & Personal Data

  1. Look after your own belongings; the club is not liable for any loss.
  2. Participants are advised to purchase personal accident or sports insurance.
  3. Personal data is used only for club contact, activity arrangement and emergencies — never shared with third parties without consent.
  4. Photos and videos may be used for club promotion. If you prefer not to appear, notify a core member in advance.

X. Children, Teens, Pets & Visitors

  1. Children and teens must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who ensures they can complete the chosen route.
  2. Pets require prior approval; keep them under control at all times.
  3. Visitors and drop-in runners must follow this code and learn the route and safety notes beforehand.
  4. Repeat visitors should formally register as members or runners.

XI. Weather, Air Quality & Cancellations

  1. In case of typhoon, rainstorm, thunderstorm, extreme heat, poor air quality or other severe weather, the club may cancel, shorten or change activities.
  2. Watch for club announcements; do not head to the meeting point after a cancellation.
  3. If weather worsens during a run, follow the pacer’s instructions to evacuate or turn back in order.
  4. In hot weather, hydrate and use sun protection to avoid heat stroke.

XII. Community & Environment

  1. Care for community facilities; no vandalism or disturbance to residents.
  2. Support the environment — bring a reusable bottle, cut single-use plastic.
  3. Join community service: beach clean-ups, elderly visits and more.
  4. Connect the community through running — turn strangers into neighbours.

XIII. Prohibited Conduct

  1. Sales, MLM, religious promotion, political mobilisation or canvassing.
  2. Personal attacks, discrimination, harassment, bullying or any form of violence.
  3. Theft, vandalism or trespassing on private property.
  4. Concealing health conditions that endanger yourself or others.
  5. Disobeying safety instructions from the pacer or sweeper.
  6. Joining runs while intoxicated, under the influence of drugs, or unwell.
  7. Any other conduct deemed improper by core members.

XIV. Handling Violations

  1. Minor violations: verbal reminder from the pacer or a core member.
  2. Repeated violations: written warning, recorded on file.
  3. Severe/repeat offenders: membership cancelled.
  4. All penalties are decided by core members case by case; appeals are reviewed by core members.
  5. Cases involving illegal conduct will be reported to the police.

XV. Disclaimer & Consent

  1. Participation is voluntary; runners understand that outdoor running carries inherent risks.
  2. Participants must assess their own health and ability and take responsibility for their safety.
  3. The club and volunteers bear no legal liability for accidents caused by personal negligence, concealed health conditions or violations of this code.
  4. Registering for an activity means you have read and agreed to this code.

XVI. Supplementary Provisions

  1. This code takes effect once approved by the core members.
  2. It may be revised as needed; revisions will be announced in the chat groups.
  3. Matters not covered here will be handled by core members according to the club’s purpose and safety principles.
  4. This code does not replace legal advice; consult a professional when needed.
